Fenech, Alfred J.C. (18.7.1937-)

Dual citizenship campaigner

Born in Valletta, Fenech received his secondary education at the Lyceum and in Australia, obtaining his BA from the Sydney University.

Fenech joined the Maltese Community Council of NSW in 1974 and was elected Secretary. That same year he initiated a campaign for dual citizenship. Between 1974 and 1996 Fenech was heavily involved in many agreements between Australia and Malta, including those relative to reciprocal social security, health, double taxation, and working holidays. Between 1981 and 1996, he organized several community programmes for the presidents and prime ministers visiting NSW.

In 1993 Fenech was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for services rendered to the Maltese community. He is married to Patricia Mary Forster.
